It is with the highest stone aqueduct in the world, the Roquefavour Aqueduct (82.65 meters), to the east, that this zone begins. From Aix-en-Provence to the Alpilles via the Salonais region (Salon-de-Provence and surroundings).
“For as long as I can remember, I have seen before my eyes, in the South, there, a mountain bar whose nipples, ramps, cliffs and valleys were blue from morning to Vespers, more or less light or dark, in high waves. It's the Alpilles chain, surrounded by olive trees like a massif of Greek rocks, a veritable belvedere of glory and legends.”
